Looking for ways to earn money blogging, but not sure how?
Hello, this is Rick, and currently run a few relationship blogs.
If you too are in the relationship niche and want to learn how to make more money with affiliate marketing or by creating your own products then check me out at RelationshipBrew.com.
My current main blog is InfidelityFirstAidKit.com where I go by the pseudonym Orlando (long story- well, not really, but still a story behind it). On my blog, I touch on some controversial relationship topics but also offer some useful dating tips for women, plus run my ever-growing newsletter Understanding Men Secrets Newsletter.
In this blog post, I’m going to show you one of the easiest ways you can monetize your blog with your thank you page.
Of course, this will only work for you if you already grow an email list and have created subscriber opt-in pages or forms.
If not, at some point you will (because depending on your niche you might not be able to afford not to).
Wow, I can’t tell you how simple it easy to make money with your Thank You page.
So, if you’ve already been growing your email list, then you could start this TODAY, like as in RIGHT AWAY, after finishing this blog post.
[Affiliate Disclaimer] I earn a commission with affiliate links on this post for hand-selected products that I believe will help you. These commissions help support me to run this blog when clicked and a purchase is made. Thank you for your support
I use Leadpages to create mine. And I love how easy it is to drag and drop to create high-converting opt-in pages and landing pages.
Other great landing page creators I’ve used are Elementor and SumoMe. Of course, Clickfunnels works great too.
(You can try Leadpages for free here before you commit to paying for it as I do).
Let’s get started, but first I want to ask you a question.
Does you typical Thank You page look like this?
This Thank You page sucks!
Complete waste because you cannot earn money this way.
[PRO TIP] Want to make money blogging? Then ask them to buy something. Don’t be afraid to present a CTA (Call-to-Action). Do it the right way that solves a problem for them while they’re in the mood to take action.
I’ll show you how in a second.
STOP thinking that your Thank You page means just to say, “Thank you.”
Bottom line is that you need to change your thank you page ASAP to stop losing money.
Luckily, it’s a very easy fix.
Ready?
Just recommend an affiliate product (or your own product or service) that relates to or complements the free gift (your lead magnet) you just gave them for becoming a new email subscriber.
Present your recommendation right after your “Thank You for becoming a subscriber message”.
Take a peak at how Leadpages does it.
I’ll show you an example of a Thank You page of mine from one of my other blogs in moment.
[Thank You Page Example (optimized for monetization)]created with GIPHY
Do you see how the first headline thanks them for subscribing to the newsletter AND that the free gift (the lead magnet) that they promised is coming via email?
Right after that comes their CTA to claim a spot on the free webinar.
Later they make money by asking the viewers of the free webinar to make a purchase of a course, eBook, coaching service or a comination of these.
Even just the free webinar offers a solution to nagging problem of the visitor.
In this case, offering one more free gift, an upgraded gift presents just one more small step towards a paid for product.
You can do the same thing.
So, you might ask yourself, how does this work to convert a sale and make money blogging?
How does it convince someone to pay you money?
Your new subscriber has already taken action.
They have displayed an urgency to solve a problem of theirs.
They’re warmed up and in the right frame of mind to take more action.
And guess where their eyes are focused on?
That’s right!
Right at your Thank You page.
First, the Thank You confirmation message because they’re expecting instruction on how to access the free gift you promised.
Next, whatever it is you want to present: an affiliate product, webinar, a service or even an inexpensive “tripwire product” that places them in a sales funnel.
Such as a short 5-7-part email series with another product or service offer in the final email.
Or you can redirect them to another landing page that presents another CTA, but this time more expensive than your “tripwire”.
This would be something more advanced or more comprehensive than your lead magnet or tripwire.
Want to see some Thank you page examples that I’ve used on my relationship blog InfidelityFirstAidKit.com?
You can create this first Thank You page in minutes on Leadpages.
(Thought about using Leadpages? Try it for free here.)
If you get new subscribers daily, or at least every few days, then you potentially could make money within days or weeks with this Thank You page.
(No guarantees of course, but you WILL get them to look, which WILL lead to sales at some point).
At the minimum, expect to get some of those new subscribers to click on your affiliate product recommendation (or other CTA).
You can check your affiliate product dashboard for the stats.
Of course, this would serve as proof that you got them to take the first step in this simple sales funnel process.
Here’s a list of what to include in this first kind of Thank You page and then I’ll show you one of my examples.
Checklist for This Thank You Page
Link straight from your subscriber newsletter Thank You page to your affliate product’s sales page.
This could be a video, text sales page, or preferably a hybrid of both.
It’ll depend on what your affiliate product has created in their dashboard.
Now check out the example of my Thank You page for InfidelityFirstAidKit.com that relates to the dating and relationship niche.
(I show you both the desktop and mobile view.)
[from Thank You Page to Affiliate Sales Page]Created with GIPHY
Notice the basic elements I inserted into my simple subscriber Thank You Page.
Now that you have a successful Thank You Page template to follow, what affiliate products should you recommend?
You must recommend something that complements, presents something more advanced, or solves a related problem to the topic of your lead magnet.
The more closely your recommendation aligns with the content of your lead magnet, the more clicks and sales you will get.
Furthermore, that more obvioius your recommendation will solve a problem for your new subscriber, the higher the chance that they will take you up on the offer.
To explain this more in detail consider the following two kinds of affiliate offers.
This kind of affiliate product would solve a related problem within the same topic (niche).
In this case, your offer would provide a more comprehensive solution, with more angles, lessons and would dig deeper into the topic.
Check out these examples of mine:
[Simple Thank You Page Optimized for Monetization] Created with GIPHY
Here’s what I offer in the lead magnet.
Top Secret Cheating Spouse Report
Affiliate Offer
A background check with Truthfinder or Insta Checkmate (a subsidiary of Truthfinder)
Upsell
Cross-sell
And here are the stats for this thank you page year-to-date up to October 2020.
75% clickthrough to affiliate product video sales page (Yes, that’s an insanely high clickthrough rate)
Between 2-3% sale conversion but the commission payout is high ($60), likely this product does not align enough with my lead magnet because a) the lead magnet pertains to physical evidence around the house and b) the affiliate product pertains to mostly online evidence
In this example, you do see that my affiliate offer provided my new subscribers both cross-sell and upsell opportunities.
Now let’s look at a more advanced technique to make money in blogging with your Thank You Page.
This one could increase your affiliate sales conversions because it offers a clearer picture of how the affiliate offer solves their problems or challenges.
Increase your chances that your new subscriber will click the link on your Thank You page to go view your affiliate offer (or to take the next step to on your own product).
Give them a better reason to want to take that next step.
Add a short, scannable review after your first CTA.
Again, this first CTA comprises of Headline, Image, CTA button (and could even include a tagline subheading that highlights a clear benefit or targets your audience more specifically so that they know they are the right kind of person who’d benefit from your offer.
To create this scannable product review you can easily create this with Leadpages.
(Feel free to take Leadpages for a free test run by clicking here).
Insert multiple CTAs throughout your product review.
Make it easy for them to click your links or else they may just open up a new tab and type in the name of the affiliate product you’re reviewing.
Then you would NOT get credit since they did NOT click your affiliate link.
Ugh! All that work for nothing!
Add button links, image links, and text links. You never know which will catch someone’s eye.
Create trackable links with Pretty Links (that what I use), or your favorite link tracking software.
Doing this will show you:

Thank You Page Product Review Examples
And this is what I offer for my lead magnet for this subscribers to opt-in before they see my Thank You Page.
Here is my lead magnet offer to entice my subscribers to opt-in to my newsletter.
This aligns perfectly with my affiliate recommendation.
Text Chemistry by Amy North
This serves as an upsell because it offers:
This serves as a cross-sell because…
I just checked my stats for year-to-date (2020) and here are the % of clickthroughs and sales conversations for my two Thank You Pages that I apply this strategy to.
12% clickthrough to affiliate product video sales page
(I noticed that I had an annoying pop up that led to a longer review of Text Chemistry on a blog post. I removed it and this could result in a higher click-through rate to the sales page).
14% sale conversion rate (including upsells)
This is pretty good, the product aligns well with my free lead magnet package.
Again, I created all these thank you pages with Leadpages.
I’ve used this tool for several years now and couldn’t live without it.
My email subscriber growth depends on it.
Try out Leadpages Free 14-day trial.
If you already have a list and want to grow it faster than I highly recommend this easy-to-use, high-quality, efficient tool to increase your opt-in rates.
This is one of my three most used and favorite internet marketing tools and one of two that get me paid.
And before you move onto the next section that provides you more free stuff that increases your odds of making an affiliate sale (or sale of your own product) check out the template of elements on this short review Thank You Page from this section.
The next one is a little more advanced and typically works best in niches tend to teach something.
Think of “How-to” niches.
It can still work in the relationship niche, though.
This is genius way to incentivize the sale of an affiliate product you promote.
Here you will create a digital product (or products) to offer with proof of purchase for the affiliate product you’re promoting.
Think of a lead magnet, but bigger, more in-depth, or gives examples of how to use the affiliate product- like how you personally use that product.
Brainstorm some ideas of a product that you’d create that be good enough to offer for sale and charge money for.
In fact, go ahead and offer it for sale, so they can see the value that they will save by purchasing the affiliate product you recommend PLUS get your BONUS!
Or you can also choose to create exclusive content only available for a bonus.
If you have a long, epic “How-to” blog post, you could turn that into PDF, and/or video.
Use Designrr to easily convert blog posts into PDFs.
Or use Screen O-matic to create simple videos. (They’re are inexpensive, and yet you can still produce quality videos).
Here’s what I do to offer bonuses for my dating and relationship newsletter for women Understanding Men Secrets Newsletter.
This package is much bigger than the one I offer for lead magnets.
[Bonus Gifts Access Page Example Created with GIPHY
The layout of this bonus page and the free lead magnet package of gifts I do with the free version of the plugin Elementor.
You can create simple videos with slide shows, like the ones included in my page above, with PowerPoint or use Canva.com.
I find Canva easier and faster to do this on.
Quite frankly I could not survive without Canva.com. I owe the majority of my traffic to Canva.com for the images I create and schedule through Tailwind that publishes on Pinterest.
Start Canva.com for free here. (The free version is more than sufficient to start).
[Use Canva to Create Slide Show Presentations Created with GIPHY
Then I use Screen-O-Matic to create screen shot videos with audio.
[I record screenshot videos with Screencast-O-Matic] Created with GIPHY
You could add background music or leave it without.
[Pro Tip] The bonus products must offer value. Remember they must be high-quality, at least good enough that someone would want to buy them.
Present this offer for the bonuses on your Thank You Page, or just do it at the end of the welcome email series that your subscriber opt-in to.
After that you can run random campaigns for the bonus offer.
(That’s how I am doing it now. But I should test out both ways and keep track to see which works the best).
In the dating and relationship niche, you could consider sending your subscribers special email series that you do not place in your ongoing email queues such as:
In the middle of your series you bring up that you have a special offer in the final email.
To make this approach even more enticing, offer a free download in the final email no matter if they take you up on the bonus offer or not.
Just take a blog post or an existing email series and turn it into a PDF or make a checklist.
Something simple but which offers value and something they’d want.
Designrr is inexpensive, just a $27 on-time-payment, and does all the work for you. It turns your blog posts into attractive PDFs with one click.
Check it out.
Every one gets distracted. It’s normal.
We all have got a lot going on.
Online, people typically take action when you make it easy for them.
Do NOT assume that they will remember to look for your offer launch email.
Send a reminder email the night before, another the day of, and even one hour before the time of the launch.
Run the campaign for only 3 days to create urgency.
Consider placing the offer on a separate landing page you create with Leadpages that displays a timer that counts down when they offer ends.
Send reminder emails every day and a final notice email to the people who do not buy.
Just expect with this approach that you will get some sales but some unsubscribes.
